CAN PAST LIVES HARM CURRENT RELATIONSHIPS?

If you follow my blog, you’ll see many examples of past lives affecting current lives, and where couples are concerned this can cause huge problems.

Janet, one of my regular clients, is a gifted healer herself who offers reiki and other therapies. Part of the reason she came to me originally was to open up her intuitive and psychic abilities and to activate gifts that would help her become a more effective healer.

As we got to know each other better over the course of a few sessions, she admitted that while her husband was extremely supportive, caring and kind in general, he seemed to get very uncomfortable whenever she talked about her job.

‘Any time I talk about successes I’ve had with clients, or about a new approach I’m trying, or anything at all about my healing and he seems to shut down. He gets embarrassed and tries to change the subject. He refuses to let me do any healing on him, and if I ask him why he just says he doesn’t want it because he doesn’t understand it.’

Janet felt a real block between them, and the more successful she was becoming as a healer, the more she was feeling rejected by her husband.

Although there were several past lives that came up showing Janet as a healer, three of them kept recurring as being important. All three involved Rob, her present husband…

The first was a Viking life in Denmark, where Janet was a feisty free spirit called Magda. Magda was a ‘volva’ who practised magic and healing. She was unmarried, but was seeing Gernt (Rob, her husband) and was deeply in love with him. Gernt’s brother tried to rape her, and she cursed him, which resulted in his death.

Gernt was furious, and although he knew what his brother had done, his love for Magda turned to hate. He rejected her, and vowed to denounce magic from then on.

The next life was in Tudor times. Janet was Mary, an elderly healer with a grown up son (Rob). She was a very kindly lady who helped anyone she could. When she found her son in the arms of another man, she was horrified, and to prevent her reporting him to the authorities which would mean certain death, he denounced his mother as a witch, and she was hanged.

The third life took place in the seventeenth century. Janet and Rob were together again as lovers, and were planning to get married. Janet was the village ‘wise-woman’, or healer. Rob was offered a job as magistrate in their village, and his ego grew from that point on. His job was increasingly dependent on him finding and prosecuting witches, and he eventually betrayed Janet and denounced her as a witch. She was drowned on a ducking stool.

Throughout those three lives, Janet had been betrayed by Rob and her healing skills had been the indirect cause of her death. She carried many traumas from those lives, and as a result her soul had ‘shut down’ many of her gifts. A lot of fear and trauma had to be released, as well as pain, anger and grief.

There were cords and threads from each of these lives which were feeding self-doubt and resentment towards Rob.

Often if a person has experienced trauma in a past life related to personal safety, the same emotions will trigger if they feel unsafe again, so a lot of work was done in the root chakra to clear this.

The relationship between Janet and Rob was still strained. Janet felt that Rob was denying her authentic self, and was not supporting her spiritually. Rob didn’t understand why it bothered her so much, and the couple were not communicating about it at all.

Things changed when Janet managed to persuade Rob to come for a session, which then led to several more. We were able to unpick his side of things and address his traumas and issues.

With Rob, there was very much an ego-based ‘service to self’ loop going on over several of his lifetimes, as could be seen in Janet’s three main lives with him.

On his back, I found a soul contract from this life where he had made a conscious decision to make his current life ‘service to others’, and others from previous lives rejecting healers and any type of ‘magic’.

He was still struggling with feelings of guilt, anger and shame which he carried from these lifetimes, and there were unhealthy cords and bindings to Janet, where he resented and rejected her abilities as a healer.

There were blockages in his crown and higher chakras, where he had severed his connection with Spirit and his own Higher Guidance. Feelings of unworthiness were released around this.

There were blockages in his heart where he felt guilt over his betrayal, and on a soul level he was finding it very difficult to forgive himself for what he had done.

There were deflection discs at his throat and heart where his feelings were being pushed away and avoided. He was unable to express (or face) his feelings.

At his solar plexus, there was a lot of guilt around his misuse of power. He had given his power away by disconnecting from Spirit as a way of atoning for this guilt.

Something else that came up was shame that he had never asked Janet for forgiveness.

With both Janet and Rob, I released spirit attachments of the past life people they had been in each of these lives to enable them both to move on.

Working with couples is like working with individual clients: the sessions are confidential and not discussed with the other partner.

However, Janet reported that after a few sessions they were able to discuss their problems and how they tied in with past lives. Amazingly, Rob was ready to share details about how he felt about these sessions, and even admitted that he had on a subconscious level resented and rejected that ‘healer’ aspect of her.

He asked her forgiveness for what had happened, and Janet gave it freely and joyfully.

Now, communication is much more open, the wedge between them is gone and Janet’s healing work is going from strength to strength!
